
About Tri-Command Communities
Tri-Command Communities is a part of the of Atlantic Marine Corps Communities (AMCC) family, a partnership between Actus Lend Lease and The Department of the Navy/Marine Corps headquartered in North Carolina. AMCC, is the largest Navy housing portfolio on the east coast with more than 8,000 homes situated across four states and five sites. The Actus/DoN partnership or Public Private Venture (PPV) oversees the design, construction, renovation, maintenance and management of the homes.
Tri-Command Communities includes Marine Corps Air Station (MCAS), Marine Corps Recruit Depot (MCRD) Parris Island, and Naval Hospital (NHB) equating to more than 1,718 homes spread across three installations and eleven different communities. The initial development phase (IDP) at Tri-Command Communities will come to a close in April 2008 after four years of development.
Tri-Command Communities at Pine Grove is conveniently situated on Marine Corps Air Station (MCAS) Beaufort with 136 existing and occupied homes. These homes are duplex style and feature large carports, screened back porches and spacious living areas.
An additional 1,062 acres comprises Laurel Bay family housing, situated three miles west of MCAS Beaufort. Laurel Bay contains 1,098 family homes. As a result of the PPV, Laurel Bay has received brand new neighborhoods along with major renovations on existing housing.. To date, two new community centers have been built along with a pool and wet deck. To help add to the community feel, picnic and barbeque areas, pavilion and playgrounds have also been constructed. Adding to the aesthetics of the neighborhood, all Laurel Bay areas have received new landscaping with special attention to the gated entrance area and the main Laurel Bay road on base.
MCRD Parris Island has just over 200 homes. New construction is presently ongoing for Officers living there and all enlisted homes are complete. A community center, pool, new landscaping and tot lots are open for the use of all Parris Island residents to enjoy.
The Naval Hospital Command consists of three individual healthcare facilities: the Naval Hospital commissioned on April 29, 1949, and two branch medical clinics. TCC currently maintains 53 family homes at the Naval Hospital. All of the homes are completely renovated with new screened-in porches. New landscaping and tot lots have also been added to the beautiful areas surround the Naval Hospital grounds at Hospital Point.
Through this Public-Private Venture Housing Program, Marines, Sailors and their families stand to experience an immediate and significant improvement in their quality of life. This partnership also makes it possible to renovate and construct family housing quickly and affordably.
MCRD Parris Island, MCAS Beaufort, and Naval Hospital Beaufort are of crucial importance to the DON. At present, MCRD Parris Island and MCAS Beaufort are home to approximately 5,859 permanent military personnel, including 3,475 military families.
Since Tri-Command Communities partnered with the Navy, nearly five years ago, more than $29 million has been spent in the local community through contractual work and supplies needed. Seventy three percent of that went to small businesses in the area.
