Tri-Command actively and voluntarily supports non-profit and community service programs

Supporting our local Habitat for Humanity Chapter

  • Tri-Command Communities has set up an agreement with Habitat for Humanity that before homes are turned over to be demolished, they will be invited to remove items from the home.
  • For the Actus Community Days project, Tri-Command Communities asked Habitat for Humanity to identify which units they wanted out of 12 homes. Volunteers from the Actus Design and Construction Team removed and delivered the items to the new Habitat for Humanity store in Port Royal. These items included: water heaters, doors, cabinets, light fixtures and kitchen appliances.

Partnering with Marine Corps Community Services for improved programs for military families

  • Tri-Command Communities has set up an agreement with Marine Corps Community Services to partner in costs, resources and personnel to continually offer great programs for military families
  • Tidying up a ball field, adding a youth soccer field and repaving tennis courts are examples of ways that Tri-Command Communities has helped to spruce up the activities that MCCS helps to promote. Tri-Command Communities and Actus Lend Lease aim to get families and kids involved in outdoor recreation to improve overall health and wellness.

Tri-Command Communities partners with Semper Fit to create a community wide health initiative.

  • This newly formed group focuses on an overall healthy lifestyle. Walking and jogging groups have been formed, as well as workshops focusing on nutrition and relaxation tips.

Supporting local and military Fire Departments and Police Officers
Tri-Command Communities allowed the local and military safety and emergency organizations to execute training in the homes scheduled to be demolished.

  • The Provost Marshall?s Office (PMO) also known as the base?s Military Police, used homes to train their canine units.
  • The Beaufort County Sheriff?s Department coordinated police exercises in the homes.
  • Parris Island Fire Department and the Beaufort Fire Department also coordinated training exercises in these homes, as well.

Tri-Command events celebrated out in the community

  • The Port Royal Skate and Bike Show - This show was packed with entertainment from two professional bike and skate stunt shows and local kids in the area. Sports shops from Beaufort and surrounding areas were invited to host a booth.
  • National Night Out ? This event held every year in August is open to residents and their guests. A national event, NNO helps to spread awareness to all for drug prevention and crime awareness. Free entertainment and refreshments are provided.

Supporting efforts to protect the environment

  • Actus Lend Lease, in conjunction with and the Department of the Navy/Marine Corps Public Private Venture (PPV) partnership at Beaufort/Parris Island have embarked on an innovative re-use program that will recycle up to 50 homes originally scheduled for demolition. Some of these houses are targeted to potentially provide home ownership to qualified, local low-to-moderate income families.

This reuse program is a clear demonstration of Actus Lend Lease's commitment to the community and to the environment. By moving these homes, we will preclude nearly 4,000 tons of waste from entering the local landfill. This is a huge reduction in pollution.
